The Opportunity

Peak to Creek Precision Staffing is partnering with an established organization seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee payroll for approximately 700 employees, including roughly 500 union employees.

This hands-on leadership role is responsible for payroll accuracy, regulatory compliance, union requirements, team development, and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle payroll for approximately 700 employees
• Lead, train, and support a payroll team of three
• Process regular, overtime, prevailing-wage, union, and specialized payroll
• Administer union wages, dues, deductions, fringe benefits, classifications, and collective bargaining requirements
• Review payroll reports, reconciliations, and payroll-related accounts
• Manage payroll taxes, garnishments, wage reporting, and required filings
• Ensure compliance with federal, New York State, and New York City payroll regulations
• Partner with HR, Accounting, Operations, union representatives, and benefit funds
• Oversee year-end payroll activities, including W-2 reporting
• Improve payroll processes, controls, accuracy, and efficiency
• Serve as the organization’s primary payroll subject-matter expert

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience
• Payroll management or supervisory experience
• Significant union payroll experience required
• Construction payroll experience strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of payroll taxes, deductions, wage-and-hour laws, and compliance
• Experience managing and developing payroll employees
• Strong Excel, reporting, and reconciliation skills
• Sage 300 or CMiC experience preferred
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage confidential information and meet strict deadlines
• Ability to work onsite in Long Island City, Queens
