Philadelphia Technician Training Institute (PTTI) is seeking an experienced Electrical Instructor with a strong electrical background to provide hands-on and classroom instruction within our Manufacturing & Automation program.

The instructor will prepare students for entry-level careers in industrial manufacturing and automation, with particular emphasis on industrial electrical systems, electrical troubleshooting, PLCs, controls, instrumentation, sensors, motor controls, and automated equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom and hands-on instruction in manufacturing, automation, and industrial electrical concepts.
  • Teach basic electronics, electrical theory, electrical/mechanical safety, wiring, circuits, controls, and electrical diagnostic techniques.
  • Provide hands-on instruction in PLCs, PLC programming, electrical panels, sensors, relays, motor starters, instrumentation, and automated control systems .
  • Demonstrate the proper use of multimeters, oscilloscopes, electrical diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and related industrial equipment.
  • Teach students to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical wiring, PLC hardware, control circuits, sensors, motors, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Incorporate robotics, hydraulic/pneumatic electrical interfaces, preventative maintenance, and industrial automation concepts into instruction.
  • Prepare and supervise laboratory/shop activities while maintaining a safe and organized learning environment.
  • Follow the approved PTTI curriculum, lesson plans, instructional standards, and required student competencies.
  • Evaluate student performance through practical exercises, assignments, assessments, and hands-on demonstrations.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and other required academic documentation.
  • Reinforce OSHA, electrical safety, PPE, and safe equipment-handling practices.
  • Provide students with coaching, technical guidance, and career-focused instruction.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant industry experience in industrial electrical, manufacturing, automation, controls, mechatronics, industrial maintenance, or a closely related field preferred.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of industrial electrical systems, electrical troubleshooting, PLCs, controls, sensors, motors, relays, and diagnostic equipment .
  • Experience with manufacturing/automation equipment and preventative maintenance preferred.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to students with varying levels of experience.
  • Prior teaching or training experience preferred but not required for candidates with strong industry experience.
  • OSHA or relevant electrical/manufacturing certifications are a plus.
  • Must be committed to maintaining a safe, professional, hands-on learning environment.
